Household Hazardous Waste Day at the Buncombe County Landfill will be cancelled Friday, January 1, 2010. The Landfill and Transfer Station will also be closed. All Buncombe County Public Libraries will be closed on January 1 & 2 for New Years No Smoking Begins January 2 Beginning January 2, 2010, no person shall smoke, carry or possess a lighted cigar, cigarette, pipe or other lighted smoking equipment/paraphernalia in any Buncombe County buildings, on Buncombe County grounds, or in Buncombe County vehicles. Buncombe County will no longer provide smoking areas and smoking will be prohibited on all county property. Waste Pro Comes to Town Beginning January 2, Waste Pro will be the new garbage hauler for residential pickup in Buncombe County's unincorporated area.
