What is "Healthy" Eating? Dietary Guidelines for Americans - 2005

The guidelines are the basis for federal food and nutrition education programs as well as basic scientific information on nutrition and physical activity for the general public. The message is to eat a healthy balance of nutritious foods while putting a strong emphasis on calorie control and physical activity. This is because two-thirds of Americans are overweight or obese and more than half get too little physical activity.

Eating Smart on the Run - March 22

Eating in restaurants often means eating more fat, sugar and calories, and fewer fruits and vegetables. Eating Smart on the Run provides families skills to choose wisely when eating foods away from home.

Skyland Recreation Center has an indoor pool that offers lap and open swim. The cost is $3.50 per day or $25 per month per person for lap swim and $3 per day person for open swim. A pass may be purchased for open swim for 10 visits for $20.
