Veterans Assistance in Buncombe CountyThe Buncombe County Department of Social Services offers a variety of services for veterans living in Buncombe County. Did You Know?West Branch Library is having a book sale on May 21! Come snap up some bargains and support the Friends of West Asheville Library at the same time. This sale will feature children's books, histories and biographies. Saturday, May 21 from 9am-5pm Call the library at 251-4990 for more information. The biggest event of the year is coming up at the WNC Nature Center! Farm life couldn't be more wonderful. "Farm Fun Day!" will take place on Saturday, May 21, from 10 am - 4 pm at the WNC Nature Center. Come see the animals, make butter, purchase bedding plants, eat some southern cooking and dance to the sound of folk music. Farm related demonstrations, displays, products, and agricultural organizations will be represented. Games, arts and crafts for the young. Your group can use a library meeting room. Public Meeting Rooms for community groups and organizations are available. The cost is $50.00 per 3-hour period for profit organizations and $10.00 per 3-hour period for non-profit organizations. Meeting rooms can be found at Pack Memorial, Black Mountain, Swannanoa, South Buncombe (Skyland), Weaverville, Fairview, Enka-Candler and Leicester. Contact each individual library for size and availability. You can learn about gardening for birds and butterflies! A program will be held on Tuesday, May 24 at the NC Arboretum.
