Saturday, May 14 is the US Postal Service Letter Carriers Annual Food Drive.  Your Letter Carrier will be picking up non-perishable food items from your mailbox.  Simply place your food item inside the box and help stamp out hunger.  You can also drop off non-perishable food items at the following locations between now and May 14:

You can check out art prints at two local libraries.

Pack Memorial Library, located at 67 Haywood Street in downtown Asheville, offers a variety of art that you can check out with a library card. You may check out up to four prints for four weeks. The artwork ranges in size and is for children and adults. Currently, Pack Memorial Library has roughly 100 prints. Their phone number is 250-4700.

Black Mountain Library, located at 105 Dougherty Street in Black Mountain, also has 10 to 15 prints that may be checked out. Their phone number is 669-2652.


Buncombe County has a Law Library!

The Buncombe County Law Library is a public law library. It is part of the Asheville-Buncombe Library System and is located on the 10th floor of the Buncombe County Courthouse.  The Law Library is open to the public and exists to serve the legal needs of the general public and the legal community.

The Library's collection contains approximately 20,000 volumes with an emphasis on North Carolina materials. The collection includes reported state and federal appellate cases and a representative collection of statutes, local ordinances, regulations, treatises, periodicals and law reviews, form books, directories, and commentary.

It's open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm. The phone number is 250-4734.


The new North Asheville Library is now open.

The North Asheville Library, located at 1030 Merrimon Avenue, is now open. The operating hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 am to 8 pm, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 am to 6 pm, and Saturdays from 9 am to 5 pm.  Check out our newest branch library today!
